ARTIST STATEMENT:
Art has long been an essential part of life, filling a space that would otherwise feel incomplete without the freedom to create and the presence of creative companions. With over 50 years of study under the guidance of respected teachers across the United States, the journey of learning continues with enthusiasm and curiosity. A strong appreciation exists for the vibrant colors made possible through paint, particularly the buttery texture of acrylics. Both realism and non-objective styles are explored, often blending the two by abstracting realistic subjects. Even in realistic pieces, an abstract underpainting is used as the foundation. The act of painting itself brings a deep sense of contentment, with the unpredictability of the final result adding a sense of excitement to the creative process.
