Mallory’s work as a professional sidewalk chalk artist brings vibrant, ephemeral beauty to Lubbock’s streets, with murals at the Caviel Museum, CASP, and the First Friday Art Trail. Her art spans the country—from Wisconsin to California—promoting community engagement, interdisciplinary exploration, and accessibility to the arts.
Recently, Mallory won First Place at Amarillo College’s Chalk It Up Festival for her portrait of Quanah Parker. Her chalk creations extend to wall murals and gallery exhibitions at South Plains College, Co-Opt Research & Projects, and through her scenic charge work. Featured in the Panhandle PBS documentary Open Air, she highlights chalk art’s fusion of visual and performance art, embracing its impermanence like theatre.
By day, Mallory is a fine artist, costume designer, and Associate Professor of Costume Design at Texas Tech. She also serves as Associate Director of Academic Affairs, Head of the Design Area, and TCVPA Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives. Nationally, she is Vice Chair of Design, Technology, and Management for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival and a member of United Scenic Artists, Local 829 IATSE.
In her spare time, she freelances as a Composite Sketch Artist for Law Enforcement and dabbles in currency design. More of her work can be found at www.malloryprucha.com.
Sponsored by Orlando’s Italian Restaurant & Caprock Café, Mallory’s chalk art brings vibrant, community-driven creativity to public spaces, inspiring audiences and making art accessible to all. Viewing is included as part of general admission.
