Special Visual Art Exhibit

“Jeffie’s Color Carnival”
Jeffie Brewer, Artist

Hailing from Nacogdoches, Texas, Jeffie Brewer is an artist whose unique background has profoundly influenced his creative journey. He grew up in a charming rural town in East Texas as the son of unconventional junkyard owners, where he learned to see beauty in everyday things, developed various industrial skills, and discovered his natural talent for drawing. These early experiences have left a lasting impact on his art.

Jeffie Brewer has an impressive academic background, holding a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in sculpture and metals, a Master of Arts (MA) in sculpture and painting, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in drawing, printmaking, and jewelry making. He also spent over 20 years teaching a wide range of art courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, covering subjects like sculpture, typography, and expressive drawing.

Since his first exhibition in 1998, Brewer’s art has been featured in solo and group shows across North America, as well as in Mexico and Japan. His work has graced the intersections of Lubbock and found a place in renowned institutions like the Crystal Bridges Museum of Modern Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.

For the Lubbock Arts Festival, Jeffie Brewer envisions an exceptional visual art exhibit called “Jeffie’s Color Carnival.” This exhibit promises a captivating multimedia experience, featuring sculptures, illustrations, inflatables, lights, and sounds, taking visitors on a unique sensory journey.
