Thanks to direct grant funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Lubbock Arts Alliance launched the Empowering Visual Artists for Festival Success Program to support early-career visual artists preparing to enter the art festival marketplace.
Through this initiative, selected artists participated in a series of professional development workshops focused on key aspects of festival success, including application preparation, booth design, pricing artwork, marketing, and sales strategies. Participants also received one-on-one art reviews with an experienced show director, providing valuable feedback on their work and presentation.
As the culminating experience of the program, participating artists will showcase and sell their work at the 48th Annual Lubbock Arts Festival (April 18–19, 2026) with complimentary booth space. Artists will also gain exposure to national festival directors through the ART-LINX Conference, held in conjunction with the festival.
The 2026 Emerging Artist cohort represents a diverse range of creative mediums, including wearable fiber, cyanotype, woodwork, decorative fiber, and photography. Participating artists include Rachel Kiwior (Wearable Fiber), Caprice Nutt (Cyanotype), Jaime Coy (Wood), Patricia Ramirez (Decorative Fiber), Rosie Camacho (Wearable Fiber), and Samantha Garcia (Photography).
The program supports artists with fewer than five years of professional experience who are not represented by a gallery and earn less than half of their income from art sales. By providing training, mentorship, and real-world exhibition opportunities, the program helps participating artists build confidence, strengthen their professional practices, and connect with the broader art festival community.
