“Garden of Living Art: A ‘BLOOM’ Celebration”

by Texas Tech University J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts

To bring Dubinsky’s art beyond the wall and into lived experience, the Texas Tech University J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts (TCVPA) has created an immersive installation inspired by her work. Designed to recreate the feeling of walking through a botanical garden, the installation transforms the exhibition space into a vibrant, whimsical landscape. Visitors enter through a grand, welcoming gateway and step into a garden-like environment where art and nature blend seamlessly. A fountain dances with color, brightly patterned benches offer moments of rest, and large-scale floral displays echo the textures, shapes, and rich hues found in Dubinsky’s paintings, screenprints, and collages.

This immersive experience celebrates the exuberance of Dubinsky’s artistic vision—inviting viewers not only to observe her work, but to step inside it. The project is led by Constanza Romero, a graduate student in Texas Tech’s School of Theatre & Dance specializing in technical design, whose creative direction and scenic expertise shaped the installation’s imaginative environment.

TCVPA inspired and educates students by cultivating intellectual, artistic, and communication skills that prepare them for achievement within their disciplines and across collaborative, interdisciplinary settings. As a creative community within a leading public research university, the college supports artists, performers, scholars, and educators in the fields of art, dance, music, and theatre. Through rigorous training, research, and engagement, it emphasizes both artistic tradition and innovation, empowering students to contribute meaningfully to their professions and communities.
